Description

Sticky Sesame Chicken features tender chicken thighs coated in a luscious, sticky sauce (natural) with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. This dish is quick to prepare, family-friendly, and topped with crunchy toasted sesame seeds and fresh green onions for a delightful texture and taste experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

Sauce (natural)

  • 2 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 3 tbsp honey (natural)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp natural gelling agent

Garnish

  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp additional sesame oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Start by cutting the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces for quick and even cooking. Pat them dry to help the sauce cling better later on. Set aside while you prepare the sauce.
  2. Mix the Sauce (natural): In a small bowl, combine vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), honey (natural), soy sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and a splash of sesame oil. Whisk together until smooth. Stir in the natural gelling agent to help thicken the sauce once heated.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat a tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and sauté them until golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes, turning to cook evenly. Remove from heat and set aside momentarily.
  4. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce (natural) over the chicken in the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for another 5 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure the sauce thickens and evenly coats every piece. The natural gelling agent will do its magic, creating that irresistible sticky texture.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Once the sauce is glossy and perfectly sticky, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the chicken for a burst of flavor and color. Serve hot alongside your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated ginger and minced garlic to maximize flavor in your sauce.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan; cook chicken in batches if needed to get a golden crust.
  • Add a little water if the sauce becomes too thick while simmering; it should coat the chicken fully without being gluey.
  • Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan before garnishing for extra nuttiness.
  • Serve immediately as sticky sauces thicken when cooled.
