Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Combine warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast in a large bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy, indicating yeast activation. Add softened plant-based butter, orange zest, fresh orange juice, and plant-based milk. Gradually mix in all-purpose flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead and Rise: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Transfer to a lightly greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  3. Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread softened plant-based butter evenly over the dough. Roll tightly into a log and cut into 1 to 1.5 inch thick slices. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish leaving space between each for rising.
  4. Second Rise: Cover the rolls and let rise for 30 to 45 minutes until puffy and nearly doubled in size.
