Baked until bubbly and golden, it is ideal for family dinners or friendly gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels
  • 1 cup shredded plant-based cheese
  • 6 slices smoky turkey bacon
  • 3 tbsp plant-based butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups plant-based milk
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tsp natural gelling agent
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (natural flavorings)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Turkey Bacon: Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels and set aside to retain its crunch for later use.
  2. Make the Creamy Sauce: In a saucepan, melt plant-based butter over medium heat. Stir in all-purpose flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden to create a roux. Slowly whisk in plant-based milk, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), natural gelling agent, salt, and black pepper. Continue whisking gently until the sauce thickens to a smooth, creamy consistency.
  3. Combine Corn and Aromatics: Add fresh corn kernels, minced onion, and garlic to the sauce. Stir well to evenly coat all ingredients with the creamy sauce.
  4. Layer and Bake: Transfer half of the creamy corn mixture into a baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cooked turkey bacon on top, then spread the remaining corn mixture over it. Finish by generously topping with shredded plant-based cheese.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Place the baking dish in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden. Let rest for a few minutes before serving to allow flavors to settle.

Notes

  • Use fresh corn when possible for natural sweetness and vibrant color.
  • Do not skip cooking the flour in plant-based butter first to avoid lumps and achieve a silky sauce.
  • Keep whisking while the sauce thickens to maintain a smooth, even texture.
  • Allow the dish to rest after baking to enhance texture and flavor.
  • Add the crispy turkey bacon on top before serving to keep it crunchy.
