Description

Sweet Chili Chicken Wraps are a quick and flavorful meal perfect for weeknight dinners or casual lunches. Tender chicken breast cooked with a vibrant sweet chili sauce and wrapped with fresh vegetables in soft tortillas creates a harmonious blend of sweet and spicy flavors, textures, and colors that the whole family will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 400g chicken breast, cut into thin strips

Sauce

  • 4 tbsp sweet chili sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp grape juice
  • 1/2 tsp natural gelling agent

Vegetables

  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium carrots, thinly sliced
  • 4 large lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

Wraps

  • 4 soft tortillas or wraps (whole wheat or spinach for variation)

Other

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken breast into thin strips for quick, even cooking. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the chicken until golden and cooked through. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Create the Sweet Chili Sauce Mix: In a small bowl, whisk together sweet chili sauce (natural), grape juice, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), minced garlic, grated ginger, and natural gelling agent until well combined.
  3. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet, stirring to coat evenly. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the chicken, creating a glossy coating.
  4. Prepare Fresh Veggies: While the chicken simmers, thinly slice the bell peppers and carrots. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves to keep them crisp.
  5. Assemble the Wraps: Lay out a tortilla or wrap, place a few lettuce leaves down the center, add the saucy chicken strips, then top with bell peppers, carrots, and a sprinkle of chopped coriander. Roll tightly to enclose the filling.

Notes

  • Use warm wraps to make rolling easier and prevent cracking.
  • Do not overcook the chicken to keep it juicy and tender.
  • Customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of sweet chili sauce or adding fresh chili slices.
  • Add fresh veggies right before serving for the best crunch.
  • Roll wraps tightly to keep the filling contained during eating.
  • Leftover wraps can be refrigerated for up to 2 days, keeping wraps and vegetables separate to avoid sogginess.
  • Freeze only the cooked chicken mixture; defrost fully before reheating and assembling fresh wraps.
  • Reheat chicken gently in a pan or microwave to maintain tenderness.
