Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Scampi Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 slices smoked turkey bacon, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons plant-based butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (natural), optional
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Peel and devein the shrimp if not prepped, chop the smoked turkey bacon into bite-sized pieces, mince the garlic, and juice the lemon. Having everything ready makes the cooking process smooth and fast.
  2. Cook the Smoked Turkey Bacon: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the smoked turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil while you cook the shrimp.
  3. Sauté the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add olive oil and gently sauté the shrimp until they turn pink and are just cooked through, about 2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside to avoid overcooking.
  4. Make the Garlic Lemon Sauce: Add plant-based butter to the skillet along with minced garlic. Stir until fragrant but not browned, about 1 minute, then pour in the lemon juice and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce. Let it simmer briefly to combine.
  5. Combine and Finish: Return the shrimp and smoked turkey bacon to the skillet, tossing to coat everything evenly in the garlic lemon sauce. Sprinkle in fresh parsley and optionally red pepper flakes for a hint of heat. Adjust salt and pepper to taste, then remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for juicier texture and better flavor.
  • Cook shrimp just until pink to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Sauté garlic on medium-low heat to avoid bitterness.
  • Add lemon juice at the end to preserve its bright, fresh flavor.
  • Choose a smoked turkey bacon brand with good smokiness for best flavor depth.
