Ideal for busy weeknights or special meals, it combines wholesome ingredients to create a comforting and satisfying experience everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 1 lb tender steak cuts, bite-sized
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp plant-based butter
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced

Potatoes

  • 1 lb small waxy potatoes (baby Yukon Gold or red potatoes), washed and sliced into bite-sized chunks
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp plant-based butter

Smoked Turkey Bacon and Garnishes

  • 4 strips smoked turkey bacon
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (parsley or thyme), finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and slice the potatoes into bite-sized chunks. Parboil them briefly until just tender. Drain and dry them with a towel for a few minutes to ensure they crisp well when cooked.
  2. Cook the Smoked Turkey Bacon: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the turkey bacon strips until crisp and golden. Remove the bacon and set aside, keeping the rendered bacon fat in the pan.
  3. Crisp the Potatoes: Add the parboiled potatoes to the skillet with the reserved bacon fat. Season with salt and pepper. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes develop a golden-brown crust on all sides.
  4. Sear the Steak Bites: In a separate pan, melt the plant-based butter over medium-high heat until bubbling slightly. Season the steak bites with salt and pepper. Add them to the pan and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned on the outside and tender inside.
  5. Combine and Flavor: Return the crispy smoked turkey bacon to the skillet with the potatoes. Add the minced garlic, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar (natural), and more plant-based butter. Stir gently to coat everything evenly and let it cook together for another 1-2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the finely chopped fresh herbs over the skillet just before serving for brightness and color. Serve hot to enjoy the contrast of tender steak bites and crispy potatoes.

Notes

  • Allow steak bites to come to room temperature before cooking for even searing.
  • Pat potatoes dry after boiling to achieve maximum crispiness.
  • Use a hot skillet for searing steak bites quickly, locking in juices and creating a crust.
  • Cook steak bites and potatoes in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding and maintain crispness.
  • Use freshly minced garlic for sweeter, brighter flavor instead of pre-minced garlic.
