Description

Creamy Herb Chicken is a quick and delicious weeknight meal featuring tender chicken breasts cooked with smoky turkey bacon, fresh herbs, and a rich plant-based creamy sauce. This comforting dish is easy to prepare in one skillet and offers a perfect balance of hearty flavors and fresh aromatics, making it ideal for busy evenings or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Bacon

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices smoked turkey bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Sauce and Herbs

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 cup plant-based cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1/2 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Cook the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry and season them generously with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the chicken breasts until golden brown on both sides, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Smoked Turkey Bacon: In the same skillet, add the chopped smoked turkey bacon. Cook until crispy, approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the flavorful drippings in the pan.
  3. Sauté Garlic and Herbs: Add the minced garlic to the bacon drippings and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the chopped fresh parsley, thyme, and chives to release their aromas.
  4. Create the Creamy Sauce: Pour in the plant-based cream and chicken broth. Stir in the vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) and the natural gelling agent to thicken the sauce. Allow it to simmer gently until it begins to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Combine Everything and Simmer: Return the seared chicken breasts and turkey bacon to the skillet. Spoon the creamy herb sauce over the top. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 8 to 10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

Notes

  • Rest your chicken a few minutes before slicing to lock in juices.
  • Use fresh herbs for bright and vibrant flavors.
  • Do not rush the sear to develop richer flavor and texture.
  • Simmer the sauce gently to maintain creaminess and avoid separation.
  • Adjust salt and pepper at the end for perfect seasoning balance.
