Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein Ingredients

  • 8 oz thinly sliced sirloin or flank steak
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (natural)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (natural)
  • 1 tsp natural gelling agent mixed with 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the beef into thin strips and trim the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Mince the garlic and ginger to prepare fresh aromatics that will form the base of the sauce.
  2. Cook the Noodles: Boil the lo mein noodles following the package instructions until tender but still firm. Drain and set aside to keep ready for combining.
  3. Sauté the Beef: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the beef strips quickly until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside to retain its juices.
  4. Cook the Broccoli and Aromatics: In the same skillet, add more sesame oil if needed. Stir-fry the broccoli florets for a few minutes until they are crisp-tender. Add the minced garlic and ginger and cook until fragrant, infusing the broccoli with flavor.
  5. Make the Sauce and Combine: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar, brown sugar (natural), and the natural gelling agent slurry. Pour this sauce mixture into the skillet with broccoli, return the cooked beef, then add the noodles. Toss everything thoroughly to coat evenly and heat through.
  6. Serve Hot: Transfer the Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein to serving plates or bowls and enjoy immediately for a fresh and flavorful meal.

Notes

  • Use high heat when stir-frying to keep beef tender and broccoli crisp.
  • Prepare all ingredients ahead for smooth cooking.
  • Slice beef thinly for quicker cooking and juiciness.
  • Do not overcook noodles; slightly undercook as they will soften in the sauce.
  • Adjust sauce seasoning at the end for sweet and savory balance.
