Description

Enjoy a simple and flavorful BBQ Chicken recipe featuring juicy, tender chicken pieces marinated in natural spices and a vibrant, smoky BBQ sauce. Perfect for grilling or baking, this dish balances smoky aromas, sweet glaze, and tangy notes using wholesome ingredients suitable for any occasion.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • Chicken pieces (bone-in, skin-on)

Marinade

  • Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) – 1/4 cup
  • Apple cider vinegar (natural) – 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Honey (natural) – 2 tablespoons
  • Smoked paprika – 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper – 1/4 teaspoon (optional)

BBQ Sauce

  • Leftover marinade from above
  • Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural) – 2 tablespoons
  • Apple cider vinegar (natural) – 1 tablespoon
  • Honey (natural) – 1 tablespoon
  • Natural gelling agent – 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar (natural), olive oil, honey (natural), smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of cayenne pepper until smooth and fully blended.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place chicken pieces in a large resealable bag or bowl. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to penetrate and tenderize the chicken.
  3. Prepare the BBQ Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine leftover marinade with additional vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar (natural), honey (natural), and natural gelling agent. Heat gently while stirring frequently until the sauce thickens to a sticky, glaze-like consistency.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Preheat grill or oven to medium-high heat or 200°C (400°F). Grill chicken pieces for 6-8 minutes per side or bake for 30-40 minutes, brushing regularly with the prepared BBQ sauce until fully cooked and caramelized.
  5. Rest and Serve: Remove chicken from heat and let rest for 5 minutes to seal the juices. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce and your choice of garnishes and sides.

Notes

  • Use bone-in, skin-on chicken for maximum flavor and juiciness.
  • Marinate chicken overnight for best flavor and tenderness.
  • Brush BBQ sauce frequently during cooking to build a sticky, luscious glaze.
  • Cook on medium heat to avoid burning and ensure even browning.
  • Let chicken rest before serving to redistribute juices for tender slices.
